Augmentation

Despite this being one of the most common plastic surgery procedures performed around the world, the planning and choice of implant used are of paramount importance. It is therefore imperative that we spend ample time discussing and going through your desires and specific needs.

The most important initial question that we will need to address in the consultation, is what size of implants would be ideal for your frame. There is usually a narrow range of sizes that will be right for you, based mainly on the length your breast width. I always favour a more natural look for my patients, for better aesthetic and more long-lasting results.

We would also need to assess for the ideal position of the implant in relation to your chest muscle (above or below pectoralis major), decide on the surface characteristic of the implant (smooth or textured) and its shape (round or tear drop).

Every breast enhancement is a balance between your chosen implant and what your own skin (breast envelope) can accommodate. In some cases for example, the skin envelope might also require a lift (augmentation mastopexy) due to droopiness (ptosis), or you might favour an overall more vegan, implant free approach with fat grafting. Sometimes, a combination of the above techniques might be what is required for an optimal outcome.

There is a lot to discuss and it is imperative we spend as much time as required before any final plans for surgery are made.
